My take-homes from todays informal meeting: With my parent of a child with special needs hat on... Parent support group regular meetings at which we could facilitate, not only parent support but relationships between our kids...so they can have play dates that are well supported with an activity they share an interest in. This allowing the activity to be the focus rather than the interactions. A directory of ASD friendly practitioners and services With my occupational therapist hat on... I going to facilitate a by donation once-a-term education/discussion event on a Saturday afternoon so I need to set a date! We could use my KidSpace venue for the first one but there may be a more suitable venue. Parents could invite family members and friends who want to learn more about ASD and peoples shared experiences. Maybe there is some scope to apply for funding for childcare if anyone wants to take that job on. With both hats on... I am really interested in mindfulness-based stress reduction (I have a physio colleague and friend who is studying this currently) AND I am also really, really interested in ASD and Gut function.
