My take on tonights Abercrombie Ige debate: Grid Modernization: tie-tie both good Economy and getting the state back in the black: Abercrombie clear winner Natural Gas - boo hiss Abercrombie - bad idea to use it. Ige did not express opinion. Public-Private Partnerships: Abercrombie thinks too highly of them. Ige didnt seem to oppose them. So Ige slight edge because he wasnt talking them up but I didnt get the feeling he opposed them. Koa Ridge and Hoopili: Abercrombie unappologetic about developing ag land saying it was in the mass transit corridor and supposed to be developed. Of course the real culprit here is Mufi who made the rail line go there in the first place. Ige no position. Preschool: tie-tie Marriage Equality: Abercrombie clear winner. Ige said they shouldnt have had the special session!!!! Prisons: Again with the public-private partnerships. I think Ige was off-base attacking the Governor because the Lege hasnt given him the funds he needs. Bottom line: Ige kept saying failure of leadership which I found to be untrue. Abercrombie shows leadership - hes just misguided about some things. Nonetheless he did get our state back in the black. Ige really did NOT pose a clear reason to vote for him despite Tanya point blank asking him what people were dissatisfied about Abercrombie with. I did not get to know Ige any better than before. He came out with no real positions (except indirectly dissing Sen Schatz on the whole Inouye letter thing) Abercrombie came out with positions half of which I disagreed with and half I agreed with. Which is why people get mad at him. Ige played it safe and really didnt say he was in favor of ANYTHING. Does he HAVE positions???????
