My thanks to Andy Griffiths for arranging this trip. We sailed from Watchet at 1300 for 9 hours and fished the grounds up channel. Thornbacks featured throughout though most fish weighed sub 10 lbs. Pete Austin caught the most although everyone caught. Tom Howe caught our biggest Conger 15lbs (estimated). Too many Dogs about given the time of year and a few Whiting. We found 4 Cod. Damian Close and Andy Griffiths caught small ones, Phil Lewis landed a 10 pounder and Alex Wharton caught a 19 lbs beauty. So far this winter Scooby has seen 21 doubled figured Cod landed with Alex and Damian jointly holding top spot (19 lbs). The Cod are gaining weight rapidly due to feeding on the influx of Sprat and Herring shoals. Its only time before a twenty shows itself and Xmas week nearly always produces the seasons first thirty.
