My third semester started today. I currently have a 3.75 GPA and am a Junior with 54/120 credit hours completed and 15hrs being attempted this semester. This semester will be divided into two eight week terms. The first term I will take the following classes: Philosophy and Contemporary Ideas ( Phil 201) Course Description A survey of the major positions and figures in philosophy and the cultural worldviews and practical applications that derive from them, focusing specifically on theism, naturalism and humanism in contemporary thought. I. Measurable Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: A. Explain the characteristics of philosophy. B. Explain why the development of the philosophical mindset is important in general and for Christians in particular. C. Demonstrate deductive and inductive reasoning through identification of valid and invalid argument forms. D. Analyze major philosophical issues within the different divisions of philosophy. E. Explain major terms and concepts in philosophy. F. Describe a Christian philosophical viewpoint on major philosophical issues in one’s own words. G. Assess different movements and thinkers within each division of philosophy from a Christian worldview. H. Evaluate major philosophical problems and questions within each division of philosophy from a Christian worldview. Theology Survey II (THEO 202 Course Description This is a continuation of general survey of Bible doctrine designed to synthesize and outline each of the ten major areas of systematic theology. Survey II includes anthropology, hamartiology, soteriology, ecclesiology and eschatology. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: A. Identify properly the core content of the doctrines of sin, man, salvation, the church, and last things. B. Differentiate between classical Christian teachings regarding the above doctrines and those teachings which fall outside of the evangelical Christian faith. C. Distinguish scriptural passages supporting the above Christian doctrines. D. Classify the five key points of Calvinism. E. Define external and internal law and distinguish between them. F. Evaluate the multifaceted scope of the term “heart” as used in Scripture. G. Summarize the characteristics of the local church. Explain why the church is described as independent and indigenous. The second term I will study General Psychology(101), History of Life (CRST 290), and Instructional Tech for online Learning (INFT 101, Basic IT stuff required). Should be an en-lighting term.
