My thoughts on Lucy It was a lot like Akira with most of the action bits cut out. It was also a lot like Dune with most of the thoughtful parts and all of the political drama cut out. It had a lot of really great images in it (I especially liked the Creation of Man scene); the special effects were solid; the musical choices were pretty good. The premise was okay, but tying it to something which is demonstrably false (the 10% of the brain myth) took a chunk out of my suspension of disbelief. The main thing I didnt like was that after about 30-45 minutes the whole movie felt like falling action. There wasnt really any suspense after Lucy gets her super powers. There was no real challenge. This would have been a great opportunity for character development, but it got waved away with a phone call where she asks a total stranger what to do, he tells her what to do, and she does it with no real obstacle to overcome. In the end it feels like it was rushed. They couldnt figure out if they wanted to make an action movie or if they wanted to make a cerebral thriller and so they made something that wasnt as good as it could have been. Its worth seeing if you thought Ghost in the Shell was too philosophical. #SeeLucy
