My thoughts on crossbows. I dont believe crossbows are a bad thing. I think crossbows put people in the woods that normally would not have the time to practice with a vertical bow. Do, I think it is cheating, not anymore than a compound bow with a sight on it, shotgun or rifle. Certainly not cheating. I think those that have a handicap and can shoot one is awesome. This gets them out in the woods enjoying what they may have been never able to do or something that was taken away from them due to their handicap at one time. Do I shoot one? No, and will not until I can no longer draw my bow and then and only then will I join the group of crossbow hunters. Do I believe kids should start out on them? No, I think it is great to teach a child the fundamentals of archery first teaching them discipline of shooting, breathing and patience. Then let them have the ability to shoot one on occasion. But, most definitely bring them up shooting either a longbow, re-curve or compound. Thats my thoughts for the day! Have a great and blessed Sunday.
