My thoughts on the Apple Watch (without hands on so my opinion can - TopicsExpress

My thoughts on the Apple Watch (without hands on so my opinion can change dramatically once I use it live). Hmm gotta be honest, the design didnt look that great in my first impression. Maybe it is just me, but the watch looked a little too fat imo. Reminds me of the older iPod (first gen) days, which looked great at the time but not anymore. The Moto X looked a lot better in pictures and I prefer the circular form factor over the rectangular form factor on the Apple Watch. However, the Watch makes up for that with the crown on the side, as well as the easily replaceable straps. The straps can come off easily with a button and the placed upon with a click sound. The straps itself look great, definitely Johnny Ive inspired. The crown is a mystery to me, it could be that revolutionary mouse for computers or touchscreen for a smartphone. Or it could be a failure like the stylus for windows mobile. I think this crown could be a thing. Pressing the crown is pretty much the home button and scrolling it either zooms or scrolls. It looks like apple did it right with wireless inductive charger on the watch, which uses magnets to keep it in place. As for the UI/UX. I know I havent used it but from my first impressions, Im not sure about the bubbly icons in the home interface. Maybe they are easy to press but it seems a little too small, and they icons seem to close to each other in the pictures. I would have just preferred grid icons. (Also think bubbly icons makes more sense on a circular screen,) Im not sure about force touch and normal touch. Force touch is when the user puts some force on the touchscreen which then provides additional options (different from normal touching, where you touch lightly). Why dont they just add touch and hold to provide additional options? This doesnt sound obvious for average consumers imo. Who knows, I could be wrong but thats what I first felt when I heard of these features. The crown, on the other hand, is the easy to use feature. Its intuitively obvious that scrolling the crown would zoom or scroll the UI and pressing would go home I can see average users knowing this the first time. (Better than the pointless crown on the Moto X) Battery is a mystery atm. The watch costs $349 which is a killer and I dont think I would be willing to pay for that much when tablets costs less than that lol. My opinion would probably change once I have one in my hands. also sad to see that the watch only works with the iphone :( Is this the smartwatch youve been waiting for? Now, I wanna hear your thoughts! phonearena/news/Apple-Watch-breaks-cover-the-new-category_id60465 Shawn Russell Albert Chinmaya
