My thoughts on the climate change rally and why those hoping for productive government action will be sorely disappointed: Part of the problem is that nobody wants to face the basic truth: there is no way to cut emissions by 80% without cutting consumption by a very large factor, and if you cut consumption, the economy cant support a centralized solution to the problem. As a result there is no technological solution. The only solutions involve abandoning the consumer economy. Unfortunately climate scientists have bought the snake oil of economists as this issue has become politicized.
