My thoughts re the Travon Martin saga: There are usually at least two sides to every story. In the case of Travon Martin, our society was divided into two separate camps. One, which saw the tragic event as a racial-gun issue, and a second, which saw the event as a tragic encounter between two individuals…one being concerned about neighborhood crime, and another who seemed to have a point to prove with whom he saw as an antagonist. A classic “left Vs right” situation. The Sanford, FL police upon arriving at the crime scene, evaluating the evidence, and hearing from Zimmerman his description of what happened that fateful night decided there was no reason to arrest Zimmerman and let him go. They had nothing to charge him with. Enter politics infused with law and justice. Our nation’s chief race-baiters, Sharpton and Jackson, along with those who profit by injecting themselves into the middle of events which might be twisted and construed into having a racial element, were instantly on the scene demanding Zimmerman be arrested. How many times has both Sharpton and Jackson been so very wrong about the causes they seem to support? Enter politics into the process of seeking justice in America. President Obama proclaimed “if he had a son, he would look like Travon.” The stage was set, national (Progressive Socialist Democrats) and Florida politics entered the fray. When asked to prosecute Zimmerman, the 1st Florida prosecutor asked to do so refused, given the lack of evidence with the taint of politics involved! Eric Holder’s DOJ sent a team to Sanford to fan the flames of hatred, and agitated the crowds for Justice for Travon…at taxpayer’s expense. Duplicitous? The perception watching the trial was that the prosecution had zero evidence to prove their initial charge of 2nd degree murder. As the trial progressed, the Prosecution could see the handwriting on the wall of failure with their attempts to indict Zimmerman with a 2nd degree murder beef, and made a last minute desperate attempt to pile on additional charges…including child abuse, 3rd degree murder, and manslaughter to the initial charge of 2nd degree murder. The judge allowed an extra charge to be piled on, manslaughter. The judge, Debra Nelson, a life-long Democrat herself, created the perception that she favored the prosecution’s efforts to charge Zimmerman with 2nd degree murder. She disallowed the majority of evidence that would have painted a true picture of Travon Martin as someone other than an innocent child, murdered while walking home carrying a bag of Skittles and an Ice Tea. Travon Martin in actually was a 17-year old troubled black American youth, who had been recently suspended from school, had engaged in numerous fights ( was something of a student of martial arts). His autopsy revealed he had THC in his system, indicative of smoking marijuana. Photos on his cell phone revealed him handling a pistol and photos of marijuana plants. No one has explained the pile of jewelry found on his bed that did not belong to him. Was he engaged in criminal activity? This evidence was not allowed in front of the jury for them to decide. When anybody, regardless of race, wanders through a housing complex wearing a hoodie on a dark night, through a housing complex that had experienced break-ins and thefts, they are deemed indeed to be suspicious characters. When Zimmerman called 911 and was asked to describe the individual whom he had concerns about, Zimmerman provided a profile as best he could of the suspicious character, which turned out to be Martin. Profiling? Yes, a useful tool to describe any individual…and a process which has been under attack by the Progressive Socialists for years…as a way to deflect guilt away from members of a given race should they be caught engaging in a crime. Martin, who consumed 4 minutes by concealing himself and doing an about face from his journey home, apparently accosted Zimmerman about being followed and landed the first blow which began the confrontation. Had Martin merely continued on his way home, being innocent of any wrong doing up ‘til then, he would have avoided this direct confrontation and would still be alive today? He apparently had a point to prove, jumped Zimmerman, and ended up being shot and killed. Tragic. The prosecution withheld as much information as they could in order to continue painting Travon Martin as an innocent child, out for an evening stroll fetching Skittles and an Ice Tea. So much information that one individual on the prosecution’s team, turned whistle blower, and handed over some of the evidence being withheld from the defense team to the defense. This individual was almost immediately fired by the Prosecutor’s office. Justice? The press, starving for news and ways to push their socialist agendas, largely a body of Progressive Socialist Democrats themselves, tried everything they could to make the story about race, guns, and the tragic death of a sweet, innocent little black American child. The press should be held accountable, along with the professional race-baiters, for the tragic path this whole story had taken. The irony of it all is in the way Martin family lawyers characterized Travon Martin in their summary statements following Zimmerman’s acquittal. Martin, undoubtedly involved in criminal activity, a wanna-be thug, was portrayed as a national symbol to stand beside the likes of REAL civil rights leaders such as Medgar Evers. Give me a break! How despicable is this? So…why does the public…aware of who the real Travon Martin was…insist on idolizing him in this way. The Main Stream Media’s efforts to paint Zimmerman as a white racist (a tactic of the CPUSA) blew up in their faces when it was learned Zimmerman is Hispanic. So, do we have a crowd of people who dislike Hispanics standing beside the Martin family? Would that be racist? I think Obama would not let Travon Martin date either one of his daughters! Shame on all involved who decided to mix politics with law and justice. Our society still has a lot to learn about being a member of civilized society, to honor and respect law and order, and to not show up at the jailhouse door with a hanging rope and their own opinions about the guilt or innocence of anyone who is standing trial in front of a jury who will decide their fate. In this case, they would have hung the wrong person for the wrong crime!
