My traditional Southern style New Years dinner is ready… Way ahead of schedule. It consist of the triad of black-eyed peas (seasoned with pork), greens, and cornbread! Some say the black-eyed peas represents good luck and has a 1500 year history behind it (going back to the time, approximately 500 A.D., when the Jews ate this in celebration of their New Year, Rosh Hashanah). Still others say: peas represents pennies, Greens represents dollars and cornbread represents gold. The expression goes: Eat poor on New Years day and eat fat for the rest of the year! Bon appétit my Facebook friends... And Happy New Year to all of you! And may it be more prosperous to you than the previous year.
