My two lads share a deep littered small barn, there are two doorways, and during the winter I use one at a time as to not ruin the ground outside too quickly..I also have like a fenced off corridor to the field gate, again to restrict movement and mud to one side. Sometimes, when in a hurry, I just open op the gates, and my two boys stroll into the field on their own. For the last few days my neighbour (not the nasty one) have kindly done the horses for me.. So this morning I come down, feed and then just open the gates to the barn and my boys trotted gaily out. Then I see it. The gate to the field is not open.. Oh, I think, theyll stop and wait, and I start walking towards the gate.. but no.. The Spaniards jog, turns into a soft canter, and boing!!! He pops the five bar gate!!! In his rug!! Not warmed up!! Landing and taking off in a couple of feet of mud!!! Once on the other side he stops and calmy start grazing. The Welshman, who luckily didnt attempt the same harebrained scheme, looks at me impatiently. Come on, hes got a few seconds more grazinf time than me I let him in, go over to check the Spaniard who seems thoroughly amazed at the attention..So, dressage horse, my arse, Ive got meself a hunter :-)
