My understanding of EID DAY with different levels of my maturity: At childhood: it would be a day of joy, new clothes, prayer, eidi, good food, sweets, fun and frolic with friends and cousins :) At school days: a day same as above in addition to my fathers non-Muslim friends visiting our house and sharing happiness with us and these are the occasions which injected the true secularism in my system. At teen age: same day as the two above in addition to my non-Muslim friends sharing the happiness of EID with me at my home, and believe me 99% of those friends are still the same with me but the only change is that we dont really see each other physically because of long distance separation and they busy in their professions. EID NOW: it is different this time, no relatives or friends visiting, only you your family , wishes on SMS, FACEBOOK, MOBILE PHONE & other social networks. My day started today in the morning with prayer in the colonys EIDGAH along with my son and nephews, visited my fathers grave to pray for his soul to rest in peace, had the pleasure and privilege to bring smiles on the face of my kids and nephews by giving them the EIDI :) and I wished my mother and thank god for the family reunion at the breakfast :) 1) what I felt short of expectation today is that, the Imam had to pray for the safety, prosperity and health of the entire mankind irrespective of caste and religion :( 2) what I felt happy about was the non-Muslim police men protecting the Muslim citizens when they were praying and at the same time Muslim brothers trusting them and feeling secure.(here is the silver lining in the dark clouds of polarisation on the name of religion). I THANK THE POLICE OFFICERS FOR ALLOWING US TO PRAY WITHOUT ANY DISTURBANCE. I liked the hopes and trust in the beggars from different communities, a hope of getting equal share in alms distributed after the prayer by our Muslim brothers, and believe me our Muslim brothers did not show any prejudice in showing their generosity including me. I appreciate our Telangana government for their good governance in letting the Muslim and Hindu brothers to follow their own faiths by preventing any extremists to disturb their peace. I still find a hope in the universal brotherhood provided we start seriously understanding the extremists plans & in particular understanding that OUR JOY LIES IN LETTING OTHERS TO ENJOY GOD BLESS ALL OF US ON THIS AUSPICIOUS DAY OF EID-UL-FITR. EID MUBARAK TO ALL MY FREINDS, STUDENTS & RELATIVES.
