My view on the Sharapova-Tendulkar issue : This may not please some of you! So, Whats the big deal if a Russian tennis player doesnt know who Mr.Tendulkar is? Come on, Many of us dont even know about our own hockey greats ( like Dhyan Chand etc)....and how many of us know about the Captain of Indias Women Cricket team? How many of our Indian players know about the Greats of Rugby, Baseball, Basketball etc ?? If you Love a sportsman, you are free to even worship him But expecting every other sportsperson in the world to know him, in my humble opinion, is just plain Ridiculous! Its quite easy to start abusing someone but its tough to maintain Dignity. The kind of Name calling that Maria Sharapova is being subjected to is uncalled for. All she did was just a confession of the fact that she doesnt know who Sachin is....Not a word more, Not a word less!! Not knowing Sachin isnt an offence!! ......... Just to quote what a Sports Journalist had to say : I cannot but think what fault Sharapova has done. Is it a sin not to be familiar with the name of a famous sportsperson? Last Saturday, when Sachin sat in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, there were several other sports personalities along with him, including Sir Bobby Charlton, David Beckham, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Robshaw, etc., to name a few. I have to confess that I am not familiar with the name Robshaw or Wiggins, for I’m not an ardent follower of rugby or cycling. I’m sure many of us don’t. Now, is that a crime? Are we at liberty to question her knowledge here? What if she isn’t familiar with Sir Bobby Charlton, the legendary footballer, who was sitting right beside Beckham in the Royal Box? I really doubt whether Sachin himself is familiar with all the sporting legends in this world. ........ Even iam a fan of Tendulkars Brilliance But that certainly doesnt give me a right to abuse another Sportsperson just because she doesnt know about my Hero! #JustAnOpinion Regards, A humble Sachin Fan. #IDontWantToAbuse
