#MyStory I recently came across this video about Old-age as a friend had shared it on her timeline. As a 20 year old growing up in a joint family, it struck just the right chords and tugged at my heartstrings. Growing up, the amount of time Ive spent with my grandparents has just declined over time. Isnt it plain odd how the people who ran the household relentlessly in their prime give way to their children, slowing becoming dependent on them for every little thing? And isnt it even more odd how the children who once shared all their triumphs and failures with their parents, depending on them for all sorts of support suddenly turn their backs on their parents and their needs when its time to reciprocate? My eyes welled up towards the middle of the video, and I spent the next few hours with my grandparents, as they recounted their favorite memories, and we laughed together, having a good time. It felt so right. In todays time, as crimes against elderly people are peaking and most of them are found in parks and temples to find some temporary escape from their solitude, I think videos like this one could really help rekindle the warmth in our hearts and sensitise us towards the plight of elderly people today. I hope youll share this so it could reach more people, and probably drive some more of us to bring smiles on the faces of our grandparents! Thanks!
