Myanmar, Japan ink rubber deal Myanmar and Japan have signed a memorandum of understanding on the manufacturing and export of rubber, according to the Myanmar Rubber Planters and Producers Association (MRPPA). The MRPPA inked the four-point agreement with the Japan Rubber Manufacturers Association and the Rubber Trade Association of Japan on Monday, at the head office of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Yangon. The Japanese associations agreed to help Myanmar in manufacturing high-quality rubber. In return, Myanmar will export the rubber to Japan, said MRPPA secretary Khine Myint. He added that Japanese experts would start by providing technologies for rubber plantations in Mon State. Japan will give the necessary aid to produce rubber that can compete in international markets. “We will consult the Myanmar Rubber Association to help with the manufacturing of high-quality rubber in respective regions. We have also discussed importing the rubber into the Japanese market. Currently we will help in production,” said Yoshi Kanai, secretary general of the Rubber Trade Association of Japan. The representatives have discussed carrying out a field survey at the rubber plantations in Mon State. They will also study the current process of rubber production in Myanmar.
