Mālik ibn Anas, the Imam of Madinah said: There is nothing harder for me than to be asked a question about whether something is ḥalāl (lawful) or ḥarām (prohibited) as this is a matter that concerns Allahs rule. I have seen people of knowledge and sound understanding in our land who, when presented with a question, appear as if they are standing before death itself. However, the people of our time are eager to speak about such issues and give fatwas. If they were to see what awaits them [in the Hereafter] they would do so less often.
