N C GOP quietly retraces former Jesse Helms tactics: Fear of blacks, any other minorities..exactly the way it was 30 years ago. I lived in Raleigh, 1980 to 2002. I knew the slime tactics of Helms and Carter Wrenn all to well. .. Racism still sells in my Old Tar Heel State. The Republicans strategists play it just as well as did Jessee - only they are more clever today. It allows the white shirt and tie Republican biz man to appear to be above the fray, while his party rides the face-FEAR issue hard, the way a pony express rider hammered his horse between towns. They smooth over their conscience by being seen in church on Sunday. Let us all kneel down now and pray to Jesus.
