N O M A D * O D Y S S E Y : Based loosely on nomads (1972) of Keith Jarrett, a genre virtually renounced and abandoned by Keith himself in the 42 years since then, with a grim determination and insolence boarding on self-sabotage, to pursue his ulterior motives. The lost theme returns to a beautiful Mediterranean island, carried on the wings of the wind. Cited almost carelessly, the 2 musical nomads Marcello Carro and myself begin their wanderings in the form of an odyssey, expanding the form and creating a journey in real-time, dancing in the key of Life in the circle of Consciousness, a meeting of 2 minds clear of all thoughts and aspirations, immersed in pure sound. Nomad Odyssey is their second joint composition as a duo after Brazilian Sonata. The space of their compositional fantasies becomes illuminated by the play of the light on the sea and the Sardinian countryside. Juggling with different musical colours, Marcello and Peter arrive at a similar mode of composition as utilized by John Adams in his Debussy sketches, John himself becoming, in the second half of the Odyssey, a far greater influence on the compositional process than that of Keith Jarrett. Only with the mind can we journey wherever we want at will. Only the human mind is capable of what the Concorde strived to do, but was powerless to achieve. With a clear mind we can travel to wherever we want. If we go to Bali in the theatre of the mind, we are much more truly there than a Balinese individual, weighed down by problems and worries, who in that state is not in Bali at all, but is wandering in samsara. So it is a very real Odyssey, performed for you here by 2 very true nomads of the mind and of space. Enjoy. Love p
