NAACP YOUTH COUNCIL AND PARTICIPATION Capturing the Youth is not really a problem. The challenge is holding their interest and progressing the motivation for continuing and active participation. Youth, especially youth from families of color, will follow the leadership, blindly at many times. The key is having the proper example of leadership. Any sort of conflict, or contradiction in the mission will be detected by a young energetic member. As you know, the majority of our young members have a level of education and awareness of what is right and what is wrong. We, as older and experienced members tend to take for granted our young members dont see, or dont get it when we act or speak in conflict of the invitation that motivated our young people to join the NAACP. Consistent, progressive, and ethical leadership is the key to our young members to actively participate. Leadership, from the top, from the executive committee sets the agenda for our young members
