NACHO UPDATE: We rescued Nacho yesterday after he was found by a county employee chained to a fence and badly mauled. We dont know who or why he was left like this, only that he was. Therefore we are going to focus on the positive: watching our boy heal and watch with amazement as a community comes together over his struggle. He will get better, he will rehabilitate and he will know a future that is bright, happy, triumphant and glorious. I know many of you would like to find who did this to him, punish them accordingly and then have sandwich, but the fact is that we dont know who did this and dont know that we ever will. Lets stay focused on his care as he trudges down the difficult road ahead. Yesterday was a heck of a day. All agencies working together like a well oiled machine to ell the dog. From the first call I got from Christina, the woman who found her, to the work of the City Shelter staff to hold him up front in the lobby until I could get there, to the Bakersfield Vet staff for clearing out an opening immediately for our boy and going to work on him immediately. Nacho had surgery yesterday afternoon to repair about a dozen lacerations, mostly to his face and legs. Ill have more to report later today when jackie gets back from visiting him.
