NACRISS: Crisis Looms As Incumbent President Fail To Dissolve, Impeach By The Factional Caucus Chief By Admin Paradisevoice Some factional members of the National Association of Cross River State Students, Worldwide, NACRISS-WW has resorted in taking ‘right’ into their hands by illegally dissolving the Comr. Philomena Agweye led students government and constituted Eleco to usher in new leaders for the indigent students’ association. The students mostly from the southern extraction of the state decided to swing into action of dissolving the 2013/2014 Exco in absentia when the erstwhile executive president of NACRISS, Comr. Philomena Agweye and some of her exco members, purportedly refused to show up at the College of Education, Akankpa, venue earlier agreed in compliance with the constitution of the association for the dissolution of the 2013/2014 NACRISS-WW exco on the 27th of October, 2014. Drama started when some faction members of the students’ body who converged waiting for the president to arrive in order for the proposed dissolution congress which was billed to hold on that fateful day, the 27th of October, 2014 at the Students’ Union Hall, College of Education, Akamkpa, by 2pm local time commence, but could not see any sensitive member of the exco who will carry out the dissolution process in the congress. Report had it that, as students from various parts of the country thronged into the venue, the college authority sensed wrong signal and quickly advised that the congress be postpone on the grounds of inadequate security personnel to maintain law and order in case any miscreants among the students want to take advantage of the event to cause trouble and base on the fact that the college was currently on holidays. The president, Comr. Agweye as paradisevoice leant confirmed the security report and ordered that the congress be postponed according to the authority’s advice and lack of other logistics. According to Comr. Agweye when contacted on phone calls; “We had to reschedule the congress because of security matter. The school authority told us to postpone it saying that the school was currently on vacation hence, may not on guarantee the security of the congress. These were some of the obvious reasons while I decided not to show up. “Right now, we are sourcing for other conducive institution where we can hold the dissolution congress in earnest” In spite of all these, the factional members who were heavily armed for the dissolution congress could not tolerate the president nor heed the advice of the school authority and went ahead to continue with the dissolution congress even in the absence of the incumbent president and her Executive Council members. The congress according to eyewitness who claimed anonymity was later held and presided by the chairman of Forum of World Wide presidents, Comr. Ofibi Ofibi. After the dissolution, source disclosed that electoral commission, ELECO was constituted immediately. An exercise that saw the emergence of Comr. Obo James from Biase local government area as the Sole Administrator, SOLAD who will now anchor the activity of NACRISS until the new exco will be enthroned. Meanwhile, regardless the College of Education attempt which the seemingly impeached president, Comr. Agweye described as “illegal”, information reaching us yesterday being 28/10/14 has it that the president Comr. Agweye later secured a conducive venue in Cross River State University of Technology, CRUTECH and finally dissolved her Exco and a substantive electoral commission was constituted. According to the information, paradisevoice gathered that the association now has two electoral bodies who are working in different ways to conduct fresh elections for the association. A development that has caused the interested aspirants to become very apprehensive over the drama and wonder which to consider valid as the two structures continue woo them to buy forms from them. However, while this melodrama continued, some students who were contacted by paradisevoice expressed happiness over the development especially the outcome of the congresses held in Akamkpa, while other believed that it was a pathetic situation that NACRISS now has multiple ELECOs and called on the aggrieved members to lay down their sword allow the Agweye led Exco to land properly in the spirit of unionism and comradeship while the status quo play its part. In a chat with paradisevoice, Comr. Johnson Okam, who was the Director of Information in the dissolved exco expressed dismay and was greatly sorry for the inconveniences students might have suffered during the process and promised that peace will return to the association as soon as possible. In his SMS sent to paradisevoice, Okam wrote; “Sequel to our earlier proposed NACRISS – WW dissolution congress slated for today. i.e 27/10/14, due to some logistic issues, we are sorry to inform you that the congress will not take place today again. We regret any inconveniences this may have caused you. However, new date, venue and time shall be made known to you soon…”
