NANOWRIMO CLIP: From what I wrote today in Video Journal 8# Phoebe gestures to Trent, giving him the signal to get ready. He nods his head. “Father, I ask that your Holy Spirit be released all over this place as we dedicate the remainder of your precious daughter back to the earth where you formed her.” Phoebe flips the Bible open—right where the bookmark with a golden tassel is resting—and begins reading. “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” I move my eyes slightly to the left, and gape down at Trents hands as he twists open the top of the glass jar. He takes a step forward and anoints the trunk of the weeping willow in the shape of a cross. My breath escapes me, knowing my part is coming up next. Ive rehearsed it so many times—around the olive trees surrounding the cottage—that I can do it with my eyes closed. I glance down at Moms beautiful, white urn with colorful butterflies painted around it, and loosen the top, waiting for Phoebe to begin speaking again. “For he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” Tears burst from my eyes as I walk around the tree, sprinkling Moms ashes everywhere.
