NAREP mourns along with the residents of kampasa and rest of the country, the unnecessary and tragic deaths of Pumulo Lungwangwa and Clement Mulongo, innocent Zambias killed in cold blood by Zambia National Service officers last week. This action was completely unjustified and calls for an immediate and thorough enquiry into the brutal use of force by security personnel in Zambia. the recent shooting of football fan in Ndola by security personnel and now this incident reflect a clear demonstration of the lack of adequate training of our armed services in managing conflict with ordinary unarmed civilians. We expect the Zambia national service commander to issue a statement stating categorically what happened in kampasa and what steps are being taken to identify where the order to shoot unarmed civilians in cold blood and at close range came from as well as the steps being taken to bring justice to the families of those killed and injured in this incident. The responsibility for these murders and maiming will extend all the way to the President as commander in chief of the Armed forces if no steps are taken to address such an unacceptable show of brutality. As NAREP we believe that there are many ways of solving land wrangles as opposed to shooting innocent Zambians. When NAREP comes to power, we shall immediately: _ Conduct a full and transparent land survey to assess how this important natural resources is allocated _Assess the state of squatter rights in all land disputes and provide a clear roadmap that will ensure that every Zambian has adequate access to productive land. _Train all security personnel in the proper handling of unarmed civilian conflit _Ensure that justice is secured for all victims of brutality occasioned against unarmed civilians who have been murdered or maimed in cold blood.
