NASCAR has issued an official press release regarding Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway. NASCAR will have Ryan Newman replace Martin Truex Jr. in the Chase for the Sprint Cup due to their findings that Michael Waltrip Racing altered the outcome of Saturday night’s race. NASCAR has found Michael Waltrip Racing to have violated Section 12-4 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing). By violating Section 12-4, NASCAR has penalized all three Michael Waltrip Racing cars with a 50 points penalty, 50 championship driver points and 50 championship owner points per team (15, 55 and 56). These point penalties are assessed following the Federated Auto Parts 400 but not before the seeding of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. This results in Martin Truex Jr. losing his spot in the Chase, by being 17th in points after assessed penalties. NASCAR has also fined Michael Waltrip Racing $300,000 and indefinitely suspended Ty Norris, Michael Waltrip Racing Executive Vice President and General Manager. All three crew chiefs, Brian Pattie (15), Scott Miller (55) and Chad Johnson (56) have been placed on NASCAR probation until December 31st. HELL YEA JUSTICE IS SERVED
