Photo by AFP MANILA, Philippines - The death toll in Bohol from the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the province on Tuesday, October 15, has risen to 68, a police official said. According to Bohol police chief Senior Supt Dennis Agustin, 68 are confirmed dead. He estimated another 200 are injured. Municipalities that reported deaths include Getafe, Clarin, Buenavista, Calape, Tubigon, Balilihan, Inabanga, Batuan, Sagbayan, Baclayon, Loay, Alburquerque, Maribojoc, Bilar, Cortes, Catigbian and Antequera, as well as Tagbilaran City. The municipality of Loon reported at least 18 dead. Bohol is one of the hardest hit provinces along with Cebu, and has been declared under a state of calamity following the earthquake. According to the National Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council, Bohol also witnessed massive structural damage. Houses in Barangay Anonang, Inabanga and Barangay Loreto, Cortes collapsed while bridges were damaged across the province including Clarin bridge, Abatan and Bacong bridge in Cortes, Loay bridge, Loay Interior Road, expansive joint of Mactan bridge, and the Provincial Bridge in Montana. Government offices like the Department of Social Welfare Field Office partially collapsed while the Bohol Municipal Building in Trinidad also collapsed. The San Pedro Church in Loboc and Baclayon Church were also damaged. (READ: Iconic churches damaged) All flights to Tagbilaran were also cancelled after the ceiling of the 2nd floor terminal building Tagbilaran Flight Service Station and airport tower collapsed. The Tagbilaran City Port Terminal was not spared either.
