NATIONAL GROUP LOOKING TO UNIONIZE JR. A HOCKEY PLAYERS . . . Two years ago, the world of major junior hockey in Canada was faced with a controversial group looking to unionize the 16 to 20-year-olds that form the countrys 60 junior A teams. The unionization movement is being brought up again, this time by a much more credible group, but with the same amount of confusion and controversy. Unifor labour union and its president Jerry Dias are seeking to unite the CHLs approximately 1,200 players in search of better medical care, insurance and guaranteed education packages.
