NATIONAL PRAYER FOR THE BAHAMAS 40th INDEPENDENCE Our Father in Heaven, Creator, Rock and Redeemer of these Islands, bless our NATION and its inhabitants, through the manifestation of Your salvation and redemption. Shield our NATION with Your loving-kindness, envelop us in Your peace, and bestow Your love, Your light and Your truth upon our leaders, ministers, senators, public servants, advisors, civil society and inhabitants. Grace us with Your good counsel, perpetual wisdom and with understanding that we as Your people will be the wise among the wise. May we as a people never look at our size as a NATION to determine our STRENGTH but help us to always look to the hills from whence cometh our help and our help cometh from the LORD. We ask that you would strengthen the hands of those who defend our land, grant them deliverance on every side. Adorn them continually in a mantle of victory against all threats and aggressors that peace will always reign within our borders. Let our watchmen not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; Nor for the pestilence that walk in darkness; nor for the destruction that waste at noonday. For though a thousand shall fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand; none of it shall come near our dwelling. Merciful God even as the mountains surround Jerusalem so surround and protect us that we may never be plucked away as a people from the land that you have given unto us. Ordain and release peace in our land that the blood of the innocent will not flow or cry out from our streets. Grant the inhabitants of this land the spirit of being our brother’s keeper and rest Your eternal happiness as a watch guard of our hearts that we can march as a NATION forward, upward and onward together. Lead us Oh thou Great Jehovah, with swiftness, boldness and uprightness, as we sit at the table of NATIONS that our VOICE when heard will be only as You have WRITTEN upon the collective conscience of our hearts as Your people. May we stand firm and resolute in the INTERNATIONAL community as Your servant’s voice: In Your mercies we ask that You would forgive the sins of our fathers and the fathers before them, through our repentance, let not the teeth of our generations be set on edge nor let others come and possess our land. In Your mercies we ask that You will make our NATION a Kingdom NATION through our repentance and acknowledgement of You as SOVEREIGN LORD & KING over these Islands, Rocks & Cays. In Your mercies make our NATION an Innovation Nation, a Leading Nation among Nations; may we never be forsaken nor beg for bread, make our way more prosperous and more numerous than in the days of our fathers. Through Your eternal Light and by Your Holy Spirit draw our hearts together to revere and venerate Your name from generation to generation. Grant us grace to observe all the statutes of Your WORD, that Your Kingdom will come upon our land and that Your will, will be done through us as its inhabitants. Manifest Yourself in the splendor of Your boldness before the eyes of all inhabitants of Your world, and may everyone endowed with a soul affirm that the Lord, God is One; You are KING of KINGS, You are LORD of Lords and Your dominion is supreme. Now unto him that is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen and Amen forevermore.
