NATO and the EU share common ground on the issue of supporting of Ukraine and resistance to the Russian aggression On 4 November, 2014 NATO Secretary General J.Stoltenberg met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy F.Mogherini. During the meeting the wide range of issues were discussed with focus on the situation in the east of Ukraine. NATO Secretary General criticized the elections held by the armed separatist groups in some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine on 2 November 2014. In particular, it was emphasized that these so-called elections didnt comply with the terms of Minsk agreements and Member states of NATO would never recognized them. In her turn, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the EU F.Mogherini said that there was a risk of disruption of the peace plan to resolve the conflict, which had been proposed by President P.Poroshenko. She underlined that the Ukrainian side in most cases asked the EU about the political support for the peace plan. Concerning the tightening of sanctions against Russia F.Mogherini pointed out that it would be considered at the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council, and will depend on the developments in Eastern Ukraine.
