NATURE OF INCIDENT: BURGLARY IRC NUMBER: 130203510 OFFICER: Y. Polemitis DATE: 10/10/2013 TIME: 0109 Hours LOCATION: W. North Street PERSONS INVOLVED: VICTIM: W/M/22 Wilkes-Barre PA SUSPECT: SMITH, Rahim B/M/33 Madison Street WB PA INCIDENT DETAILS: Officers responded to report of a break in in progress where the suspect gained entry through the back door of the residence. Officers heard a loud bang emanate from within and when officers went to open the door it was opened from inside by a B/M later identified as the suspect named. The victim was found locked in a second floor room where the door frame was visibly damaged and splintered as if it had been forced open from the hallway. The victim reported he was alone in the residence as the room mates were out when he heard someone banging on the back door. The victim called 911 then heard a forceful banging on the door from the hallway as the door was being forced open. When officers arrived was when the forced entry stopped. The victim stated he did not know the suspect however advised that a Jeep parked in the driveway of the property was known to him and that was apparently the ride of the suspect. The owner of the vehicle was not located at or near the scene. The suspect was placed under arrest for transported to headquarters when he stated that the victim owed him money from a gambling debt. The suspect was processed at headquarters and soon after transferred to LCCF for overnight arraignment on charge of Felony 1 Burglary.
