NATURE’S CORNUCOPIA What winter has hidden beneath the snow Shall not be a permanent foil She casts winter aside with total disdain And brings a rebirth to the soil Who can deny the wonders of nature? The soothing sounds of a thrush Trees abound, fields of golden grain She has mastered the paint and the brush A magnificent mosaic of colors galore A banquet for the human eye A rose attempting to break through her bud A robin teaching her chick to fly A sea of grass with an occasional glade The horizon awaits as its goal The grazing so perfect for so many creatures It beckons the mare and her foal The glorious mountains in the distance beyond Boast of their snow-covered manes So lucky we are for our front row seats And next year we shall view it again.
