NAČELNIK or NAČALNIK? - that is the question. Good drills? If youre lazy with language, youll be lazy with other areas: mathematics, science, economy, politics, defence ! Front line soldier: worst case scenario. Youre a Corporal in an infantry section (squad) facing being over run by superior numbers. You can either withdraw but youve been ordered by head quarters to defend your position to the last man. As a Corporal - section commander (squad leader), you have one last trick left in your kit bag - youre authorised to radio in and call for an artillery strike (call for fire mission) or a mortar barrage. You have to be precise with your wording and your geographical coordinates as in mathematical location on the map so that the artillery or mortar rounds land exactly where they have to otherwise you and your men get killed. As a Corporal would you trust senior ranking officers back at headquarters or the Fire Support Base who were precise and logical or imprecise ? General Andrej Osterman is the Náčelník or Chief of Slovenias Armed Forces. General Drago Lovríc is the Načelnik or Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces. General Gorančo Koteski is the NAČALNIK or Chief of the Macedonian Armed Forces. The term Načelnik is a compound word made up Na & Čelo - meaning at the Head of Something as in Chief. The expression is also found in Macedonian. The word Čelo means forehead. There is no such word as Čalo or expression Na Čalo. Its biologically and scientifically illogical. Yet in Macedonian the term Načalnik is used. What Im trying to show is a metaphor for general society. As soldier whose life is on the line would you trust a senior ranking officer who uses the logical term Nacelnik or the illogical Nacalnik to land that artillery fire precisely where you want to land to save your mens lives?
