★★★NC, PDP disappointed; Cong content on PM visit★★★ NEWS:- The mainstream parties including ruling National Conference (NC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday termed the two-day visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the State as disappointing while Congress expressed contentment. “Singh did not come to the expectations of NC. Perhaps, he did not even come to the expectations of other political parties,” NC Additional General Secretary Mustafa Kamal said. The PM on his two-day visit to the State inaugurated the Qazigund-Banihal rail line, announced Rs 710 crore package to Jammu and Kashmir and laid foundation of 850 MW Ratli Hydro Electric Project at Drabshala, Kishtwar. Kamal said NC thought besides announcing developmental projects, Singh would make reference about the internal dimensions of Kashmir and give some words of comfort. Opposition PDP leader and former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Baig termed PM’s two-day visit as a routine affair. “The PM did not get into any serious discussion,” he said. Comparing PM’s latest visit to the State with his previous ones, Baig said during his past visits, Singh had made some momentous announcements but nothing of such sort happened this time around. “In his previous visits, he extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan, expressed desire of resolving Kashmir issue and announced Rs 37,000 package for the State. This visit of the PM was not intended to convey any political statement,” he said. However, unlike NC and PDP, State Congress expressed contentment over PM’s visit. State Congress chief Saifuddin Soz said NC raised certain issues with the prime minister but it was not necessary for the PM to respond to all issues. “Certain issues will attract PM’s attention, certain issues won’t. PM spoke what he had to and announced Rs 710 crore package to the State besides opening a rail link and inaugurating a power project,” he said.★★★(KISHTWAR LINKS NEWS)★★★
