NEBRASKA: The US Forest Service released scoping documents for plans at Railroad Buttes, an off-highway-vehicle (OHV) area 15 miles southeast of Rapid City. A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24 at the RAMKOTA Best Western in Rapid City from noon - 8PM. Mike McNeill, Fall River District Ranger stated: "We want the public to get involved and comment on planned improvements at the site, including adding gravel, picnic tables, public toilets, and a Kiosk for information sharing at the main parking area. Additionally, we plan to install unloading facilities and develop a "Tot Lot" suitable for beginning riders to safely gain riding experiences. The public meeting offers everyone an opportunity to learn more about proposed changes, review maps and share their thoughts." Comments must be received within 30 days after official public notification on Thursday, July 11, 2013, to be considered in the final analysis of the proposed action, which then allows standing for an appeal. This will be the only opportunity to comment on this project. Visit the Fall River Ranger District office to view maps and info from 8 to 5. Monday through Friday at 1801 Hwy 18 Truck Bypass in Hot Springs, or call (605) 745-4107. A notice of proposed action is also available on-line at fs.usda.gov/land/nebraska/landmanagment
