#NEKSTRAFFIC K-30 Resurfacing Project to Begin in Wabaunsee County; September 29-Mid-October 2014 On Monday, September 29, a resurfacing project will begin on a 1.95-mile stretch of K-30 from the north end of the bridge over I-70 north to the city limits of Maple Hill in Wabaunsee County. Project work includes 1.5-inch mill of existing asphalt pavement followed by a 1.5-inch asphalt overlay over the existing roadway pavement. All new pavement markings will be added following the resurfacing work. Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work. On Monday, September 29, minor work will begin as crews set traffic control and place a test strip on the project. Then later that day, northbound and southbound K-30 will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE for both directions during the project work hours throughout the project duration. Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via a pilot car and flagger operation. Traffic will be reduced to one lane for both directions along with intermittent short-term closures of adjacent cross roads during the project work hours. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes maximum and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible. There will be an 11-foot lane width restriction and a reduced speed limit through the project work zone throughout the project duration. NOTE: Traffic control will be set-up and taken down daily and all lanes will be open to traffic by no later than 30 minutes prior to sunset. The scheduled completion date for the entire project is mid-October 2014, weather permitting.
