***** NENA NEEDS THE HELP OF A NEW HOPE PARTNER TONIGHT***** 3 year old NENA reportedly nipped her owner and for that she will die tomorrow. Never mind that her owner describes her as “calm and playful”, that she loves to be petted and hugged, that she’s housebroken and knows some commands. None of that seems to matter and of course, nobody but the owner and NENA know exactly what happened. When it came time for her behavioral eval, she walked with the assessor with “soft and friendly body language” but cowered and tried to run away during some of the items. When she couldn’t, NENA growled. So ACC decided that after sitting in a crate at Manhattan ACC for all this time, NENA has to go. Tonight, NENA needs to find a foster or adopter who can work with a New Hope rescue to save her life and let her live out the kind of life any 3 year old dog deserves. She’ll need someone who is experienced with dogs who perhaps haven’t had the best of training and who can become scared like NENA has so quickly. If that’s you, you have to start working right now. Tomorrow, ACC won’t reconsider—they’ll just make her gone forever.
