NEUROWISDOM 101: EXERCISE #6. In my mindfulness training program, I included an exercise that has its roots in the Course of Miracles. Neurologically, the brain sees things differently from how they actually exist in the real world. The following exercise helps you to break the habit of seeing the world - and yourself - in limiting ways. Begin by gazing at different objects around the room, saying: This object I see is not real; its just a projection of my mind. Do this with 20 objects and notice how your consciousness opens up. This is a fun exercise to do with several other people. Its most powerful if you first enter a deeply relaxed and mindful state of self-reflection. Id love your feedback: tell me what your experience was when you did this. PS: the most powerful exercise is to do this with your worries and feelings of self-doubt. They, too, are not real, just memories projected onto your imagined reality of yourself!
