NEVER, EVER say Obama is dumb. This guy is one smart cookie. Telling the public that hes allowing insurance companies to extend existing policies if they want so that he makes good on his promise to allow people to keep their original policies is masterful - in the short term. The financial incentives are all against the insurers as anyone they let stay on the old policies will undermine the universal, higher premium pools needed to make Obama care financially viable. And, its too late for most insurers to undo the cancellation notices theyve already sent. So, Obama can say, I made good on my promise. Any problem lies with the insurers. Yup. Hes smart. 2014 will work as far as people signing up for Obamacare policies seeing lower prices for cover if they couldnt get cover in the past. But hell to pay in the form of much more expensive policies for all (that universal cover requirement) is coming to a family near you in 2015.
