***NEW JERSEY DEVILS GAME NIGHT POST!*** MONTREAL CANADIENS (24-11-2) at NEW JERSEY DEVILS (13-19-7) GAME #40 - TV: RDS, SNE, MSG+ Canadiens look to extend winning streak, visit Devils. Season series: The Montreal Canadiens won two of three games against the New Jersey Devils in 2013-14. New Jersey won the final and most recent meeting on Jan. 14, 2014, a 4-1 win. Devils forward Jaromir Jagr scored his 695th NHL goal, moving him past Mark Messier for seventh-most all-time. Canadiens team scope: Carey Price will become the third goaltender in Montreal history to play in his 400th game as a Canadien on Friday, trailing Jacques Plante (556 games) and Patrick Roy (551). It really goes by quickly, Price said. Ive had the privilege of playing on several very good hockey teams, and Ive played with a lot of very good hockey players that have helped me throughout those 400 games. The Canadiens have won four straight games and seven of their past eight. Just one of those seven wins, a 2-1 shootout victory against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, has not come in regulation. Montreal remains two points behind the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Atlantic Division, but has two games in hand. Devils team scope: The Devils, a team desperate for some good news over the last few weeks, got some after their 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday, as forward Steve Bernier, who lost feeling in his left leg after a hit during the game, is expected to be fine. Hes much, much better and it looks like hes ok, general manager Lou Lamoriello said Thursday. He was here this morning and got treatment, but hes going to be fine. Bernier is unlikely to play against Montreal, but Lamoriello said he wouldnt be surprised if Bernier skated Friday. Patrik Elias and Michael Ryder also appear to be on the mend, as both skated Thursday after missing several games due to the mumps. New Jersey currently sits in second-to-last place in the Metropolitan Division, and has gone 2-6-3 in its past 11 games. Keith Kinkaid will start in net for the Devils tonight. Elias said he is playing tonight. Havlat said he feels ready to play. Devils starting to get healthy. Good sign. Mike Sislo going on waivers today because he needs to clear to be sent back down. Lamoriello said Bernier wont play tonight as of right now Lamoriello said Joe Whitney will probably be sent down to make room to activate sick players from IR. Sislo will technically count on roster til noon tomorrow. After that, probable Whitney back on NHL roster. Gelinas is ill. Doesnt look like mumps so far. Lamoriello said Elias, Havlat and Ryder will probably play. Matteau, Sislo returned to Albany. Ryder isnt sure if he is playing tonight. Said he had the jaw swelling from mumps, but no fever. Lamoriello said theyll wait til later today to make sure everyone is ok to play tonight before sending Whitney down. Devils lines today: Zubrus-Gomez-Jagr; Elias-Zajac-Havlat; Cammalleri-Henrique-Ruutu/Ryder; Whitney-Sestito-Tootoo/Bernier. Devils D pairs: Greene-Harrold; Merrill-Zidlicky; Helgeson-Larsson. Goalies: Kinkaid, Schneider. Just win Devils! Need to get on a winning streak. Team is getting healthy and they need to get on a nice run here. Hopefully it starts tonight. LETS GO DEVILS!!!
