NEW ONLINE COURSE ON PPD FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE. The PPD community of practice is happy to introduce to you the first ever online course on the topic of Public-Private Dialogue. 26 video episodes were recorded, which together constitute a “PPD Primer” of sorts, organized in 4 modules: (1) Good Practice in Setting up, Managing and Sustaining a PPD (2) PPD Communication and Outreach (3) PPD for Sector Competitiveness (4) Basics of Monitoring and Evaluation in PPD youtube/user/PPDialogue Thanks to all who contributed to build that knowledge base! The modules can be used by PPD experts to build capacity among PPD stakeholders on the role of PPD in the governance agenda, coordination effectiveness and PPD management, advocacy and communication, monitoring and evaluation. We address many different types of PPDs, and included a specific module on sector-specific initiatives. For each section, there are accompanying material with written summary notes and some exercises (which be found in the “PPD Manual for Trainers”). It’s far from what a true e-Learning experience should be. But it’s a start. Nobody in his or her right mind would watch these modules in a continuous fashion, but if you did, it’d take you no less than 6 hours straight! Let me apologize in advance for being the only performer in these online courses. I hope that with time, we will add new modules recorded by different people and different organizations, with their associated materials. In the meantime if you get bored of listening to a French accent, you can always access 14 online PPD case study videos made by PPD stakeholders from around the globe and 7 PPD Video Blog Posts with PPD practitioners explaining how they addressed a particular PPD challenge. I count on you to send your PPD video content, and we’ll gladly add it to the collection, so that all can benefit from everybody’s knowledge. While we were at it, we’ve also enriched the content of publicprivatedialogue.org with new “lessons learned” papers from a number of academics, and added several new case studies (for instance about Latin America). All this online activity will feed into the upcoming launch of the new PPD website (same internet address, but new interactive design and functionalities) which is in the works with our partners at the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). We hope this collection of resources can help you in your own Public-Private Dialogue work.
