NEW ORLEANS — Mary Landrieu is on a solo mission to retain her Senate seat. Democrats are scrapping a multimillion dollar ad buy, liberal groups aren’t jumping in to help her campaign and national political staffers haven’t moved down en masse to help get out the vote. The Republican National Committee is sending more than 200 people to the Pelican State starting this week. Field staff, headquarters staff, communications and political staff are all heading down here, according to RNC spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski. “We predicted the turnout within a couple hundred votes so we feel really good about how well we know these voters,” she emailed. “We are literally buying up hotels and car rentals and sending most of our field team down to one state. It is going to be an intense operation.”
