NEW SHOW! Club Cafe: Wed September 17 - The Pearls / Naked Arcade / Kate Clark On Sale Now via: tktwb.tw/1zRHaNt The Pearls With gritty, aggressive, and melodic tunes, The Pearls are a vocals-driven band with songs that blend the spirit of travel and adventure with Cajun, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and country influences. Founding fathers of the band, Patrick Beardy Tetreault (guitar, vocals) and Wayne Buck Ryan (bass, vocals) lay the foundation of their vision with one motto in mind-- Do brave things with simple songs. In the summer of 2013, the pair embarked upon a musical pilgrimage from Oregon to Tennessee, discovering along the way that they share a knack for heartfelt folk lyrics and a passion for musical story-telling. When the newfound duo completed their travels and returned home to Portland, they soon discovered the energetic talents of fiddle and mandolin player, Scotty Stevens. Tetreault explains that Stevens is always coming up with original sounds and interesting ways to deliver the perfect fiddle parts. He intentionally leads the listener to believe the train is gonna come off the tracks but he always brings it back, leaving you smiling wide. Stevens rejuvenates the heart of the travelers lyrics with the soulful, unpredictable style of a wanderer. With spirited fiddler in tow, The Pearls extended their creative stride, chugging their way through small bars and grange halls. However, the trio felt their well-rounded sound was missing its counterpart, concluding that the addition of a female vocalist would strengthen their artful arrangements and composition. In the spring of 2014, the band happened upon Kaia Dorosh, an old soul with a Motown, jazzy voice reminiscent of female legends of the past. Along with her, husband Dave Dorosh (guitar) joined, bringing interesting hooks that lift the songs to a new level. The couples catalogue of vocals and guitar complete the five-piece band that now calls themselves The Pearls Family Band, performing their well-crafted and timeless songs across the country. Kate Clark Kate Clark has been writing songs and singing since 1993. She is influenced by singer songwriters from several decades including 70s fold, 80s new wave and 90s alternative rock. Kate is also inspired by the indie rock generation of today. Her songs are piano based atmospheric tunes that are lush and emotional but dont forsake rhythm and melody as part of its core structure. She had a four year stint as the frontwoman of Bitter Delores, an alternative rock band from 1994 to 1998. After attending Duquesne University School of Music she continued to hone her skills in songwriting and vocals. After a successful Kickstarter campaign Kate has recorded a brand new EP called Raising the Black. It is an intimate exploration into facing the truth and finding a home within oneself. Kate looks forward to writing more in 2014 and performing in the Pittsburgh area.
