A.S.M released their first full-length album “Platypus Funk” on Wax Tailor’s in-house label Lab’oratoire in March 2010, and embarked on their first full-scale European tour as a support act and in featuring with Wax Tailor which saw them perform to sold-out crowds at l’Olympia in Paris, Solidays Festival, Francopholies, Garorock, Printemps de Bourges and a performance on Taratata (France 2) amongst others. The album and tour were celebrated by press, radio and fans alike. The album’s features list read as a testament to the inspirations and companions that ASM encountered on their path. They include Wax Tailor, Dj Vadim (BBE Music), Sadat X (Brand Nubian), Wildchild (Stones Throw), Bonobo (Tru-Thoughts) & more. A.S.M released their second full-length “Crown Yard” and established themselves as a fully developed headliner with a 15-month tour in over 10 countries. Notable moments on the festival circuit included shows at Glastonbury (UK), Marsatac (France), Dour (Belgium), Paleo (Switzerland), and Soundwave (Croatia) and over 70 venue dates throughout Europe. The underlying flavor of Crown Yard is the same optimistic true-school hip hop vibe that endeared them to listeners and live audiences all over Europe in their collaborative work with Wax Tailor and on their debut album Platypus Funk. What sets this record apart is the sophistication of the arrangements and the depth in which they explore the genres they had previously only touched upon: most notably the funk in its raw original form, but also Motown soul, roots reggae, and afrobeat. The album and accompanying live show also displayed a tendency towards cinematic spectacle, the record playing like a 70s movie soundtrack and with the introduction of an added a visual component to the performance in the form of a full video show to compliment the music and interact dynamically with live audiences
