NEW TO RESCUE!!!! Please say hello to our newest guest. We (the community of Igo area) have been trying to catch this elusive boy for the past 6 weeks. We knew he was in the area, but he would not let anyone get close enough to help him. We live in a small mountain community where even though you cant see your neighbors, we are still very close. Kinda like knowing your neighbors business . This dog was skin and bones, and we could tell he had an obvious injured leg. The community would leave food out for him, and we even caught him on one of the game cameras that was set up just for his purpose (see pic #2) We decided that the best course of action would be to set up just ONE feeding station so that we could get him on a routine. We felt that this way we could perhaps set out a trap and bring him in. We were saddened that for this past week, no one had seen him, the food remains untouched (other than local wildlife) and we feared the worst. Low and Behold!!!! He was found at Haven Humane Society yesterday. Apparently, he was caught in our area and Haven came out to pick him up. All of us who had worked so hard to contain this dog were absolutely elated!! He is safe, he has gained weight, but.........he has not one, but two breaks in a hind leg. Our fabulous vet, Cyanna Howden, Chief Medical Officer at Haven Humane, took xrays and is conferring with Dr Correa from VCA on Hilltop. We strongly suspect that our boy will be losing that leg. We will do all we can to save it, but since it is an old injury, and quite painful, we have to do the right thing. If the right thing is taking the leg, then thats what will have to happen. Both Drs will confer, and if they decide that they can save the leg, that will be done ASAP. Actually, no matter the decision, he will be undergoing surgery as soon as arrangements can be made. This dog has gone through too much in his short life. Dr Howden has aged him at two years, and we may never know how he came to be in the wilderness without his people. Once we get a good photo, I will post him on all the lost dog lists in the hopes of finding someone who may have lost him. I really am hoping that there is someone out there who is dreaming of the day they will be reunited with their little buddy. Our little guy looks to be a Labrador retriever......possibly pure. Until then, he is safe.......and he will receive the medical care that he needs. He will also receive tons and tons of love Donations towards his medical care would be gratefully accepted. Please go to our website and click on the donate button. This boy also needs a name.............please note your suggestion and we will name him based on the # of likes your suggestion receives Last but not least............if his people are not located, he will be looking for a home. petswithoutpartners.org
