NEW WINDSOR – Fire Monday afternoon, which authorities believe may have started on a stove, destroyed two condominium buildings at the New Windsor Garden Apartments at 4304 Route 9W in New Windsor. There were no injuries among the 18 people living in the buildings. The blaze spread quickly, said New Windsor Fire Chief William Hinspeter. “Upon arrival, we found heavy smoke showing from the second floor and a couple of minutes into it, heavy fire load on the second floor extending into building 15”, the chief said. “Crews made the initial attack and knocked down a heavy amount of fire and made a search for occupants and that was negative.” Hinspeter said the cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. Several area fire departments fought the three-alarm fire while EMS personnel were on the scene.
