NEWS: A 12-year-old boy has been arrested following an alleged armed robbery in Sydney’s west. About 4pm on Sunday, a 15-year-old boy was participating in activities at a youth centre in St Marys. He was chased from the building by two males, one of whom was allegedly armed with a knife. It will be alleged the 15-year-old was then tackled to the ground by one of the males and punched, before being threatened by the second male with a knife. The pair allegedly stole the boy’s mobile phone before fleeing. Police from St Marys Local Area Command were contacted and immediately commenced an investigation. They arrested a 12-year-old boy at a shopping centre in Mount Druitt. He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and charged with robbery whilst armed. He is due to appear in a Children’s Court on Monday 1 September 2014. Detectives are appealing to locate the second male who has been described as aged about 16 years and of African appearance.
