***NEWS ALERT** Springfield man arrested for possible suicide by cop SPRINGFIELD — Springfield resident Padraic Scanlon, 29, was arrested at a Port Authority bus terminal in New York this morning. According to the Springfield Police Department, officers had received a tip that Scanlon was en route to New York and had been talking about suicide. Scanlon also indicated that, if was approached by police officers, he would attempt a suicide by cop. Scanlon was unarmed at the time of his arrest and he was in possession of 6 grams of MDMA, 12 Oxycodone pills and a small amount of marijuana. Scanlon was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He was transferred to Bellevue Hospital for observation.
