You can sign up for it any evening this week at Best of BE, or alternatively send us an email to reserve your place: [email protected] More details below. `loops and breaks` with Julia Schwartzbach The Barbican Saturday 11th October 4pm In this workshop we will explore the pleasures of movement improvisation and the creation of a `compositional mind`, using the structure of the performance `loops and breaks`. We will start with an easy warm-up, awakening our senses and different layers of the body, making us receptive and aware for each other and our surroundings. By using repetition and interruption as our main tools we will move on to create a source of movement material together. By inventing and building up a structure of written triggers and actions - that everyone is asked to create by themselves - we will eventually get to a mutual performance situation. The workshop is open for anyone and everyone passionate for moving and dancing, whether in a group or as an individual, at home or in public. Experience in contemporary dance techniques, circus, physical theatre or any other practice working with the body is very welcome but not necessary.
