NEWS FLASH: In the build up to the June 21 Gubernatorial Election in Ekiti State and in their continued effort at strengthening electoral processes as well as actively engaging key stakeholders, leaders and institutions in Nigeria, the United State of Americas Consul-General in Lagos Jeffrey J. Hawkins paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) Jeffrey Hawkins was glad to meet with MOB alongside his delegation that included Mr Michael Harvey, USAID Director for Nigeria, Rolf Olson, Political/Economic Section Chief of the US Consulate in Lagos and Katrina Drayton, Political Officer of the United State of Americas consulate in Nigeria. Hon Michael Opeyemi Bamidele MOB intimated the US Embassy team of his desire for the development of his home state, Ekiti which is to be achieved through laid down electoral process, assuring them of his belief in realising his ambition through free, fair and credible elections. In the same vein Jeffrey Hawkins also met with the leadership and stakeholders in the Labour Party in Ekiti State led by its Chairman, Hon. Akin Omole. The Consul-general express his pleasure for the diversity that embodies the new labour party. He reiterated the United State Support for a violence free election in Ekiti State that is seen as a precursor to the 2015 General Elections in Nigeria. He admonished the leaders to stand up and be counted for credible and peaceful elections whilst counting on the support of the United State of America and the American people.
