NEWS: #Gloucester City Council staff have been modelling some funky new hairstyles for this years Wig Wednesday. Staff at the City Council offices are wearing wigs for todays national event to support CLIC Sargent, the UKs leading cancer charity for children and young people. Thousands of people across the UK will be donning wigs for the day to raise funds and show support for children and young people with cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment. Martin Shields, Corporate Director for Services and Neighbourhoods said: The city council supports a range for charities throughout the year and we are excited to be taking part in Wig Wednesday to raise some vital funds for this very important cause. Our staff have some fantastic wigs to wear and we will also be a charity day, which will see staff dress down and hold bake sales on the same day to raise even more money. Ceris Bradley CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Gloucestershire & South Wales said: Were so pleased Gloucester City Council will be getting their wigs on to take part in this years Wig Wednesday. Every day 10 children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer and CLIC Sargent is here to provide vital support from diagnosis onwards. Wig Wednesday is a great opportunity for schools, businesses, universities and communities to raise money and support children and young people with cancer.
