# NEWS: Pema kicks off second leg of Constituency tour -Nima Khenrab TAWANG, Nov 16: The second leg of constituency developmental tour of Minister Tourism, UD, Art & Culture etc. Pema Khandu started at Jangda village on Nov 15th. The weeklong tour is expected to cover about 16 remote villages by the end of Nov 24th. The annual developmental tour aims at understanding the grass root problems and hardship at firsthand faced by the people of his constituency. The Minister along with his entourage trekked about 7kms to Jangda village where he was accorded a warm traditional reception by the people and the school children. Later in the afternoon he visited Shyro village, en-route to the village Pema inspected the Shyro- Jangda PWD road and directed the executing agency to expedite the work at the earliest. Addressing the mammoth gathering at both the villages, Pema mainly laid emphasis on imparting quality education to children and stressed on adopting horticulture activates in the area as a sustainable source of income generation. Advising the younger generation on preservation of rich old tradition and culture Pema said, “These days the younger generations are being swayed in imitating the western culture in the name of modernization, where in jeopardizing our own identity and existence”. The villagers of Jangda and Shyro requested the Minster in expediting the road construction work and early completion of the Bridge connecting the two villages. Pema informed the villager that’s he has already taken-up the matter with the concern authorities proposing for a 70-R Bailey bridge instead of RCC bridge. Today, he visited the Lhou Tso village which one of the largest village in the entire Tawang district. In a memorandum to the Minister the villagers who are the downstream dwellers had raised their resentment over the hazardous seepage of human discharge and sewage by the Indian Army causing water and environmental pollution. In response, Pema directed the Deputy Commissioner Tawang and ADC Jang to take up the matter with the Army authorities and agreed to pursue the other developmental proposals at appropriate level. In his public address at Lhou, Pema while advocating the learning of Bodhi language he said, “Bodhi language is the medium to wholly understand the true essence of Buddhism and is an integral part of our culture”. Apart from stressing on the importance of education, safeguarding tradition and culture; Pema in his tour to the villages cautioned not to compromise the quality of works while implementing the schemes sanctioned by the government. Pema was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Tawang, Abhisek Dev, ADC Tawang Tapasya Raghav, ADC Jang Dilip Chutia, DCC President Nawang Sempa, ZPC Jambey Tsering, PS to Minister Dorjee Sona, HODs, PRI representatives and Public Leaders of his constituency.
